Values that Connect

HeartlinesIf you haven’t heard about it, our sunny SA is two weeks into a nation-wide initiative called Heartlines. The intention: to get us thinking about and discussing VALUES. Every Sunday evening (with repeats on Thursdays and Saturdays) a short film is aired which highlights one of the eight core values.

Wow. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to see big players like SABC2 and First National Bank getting behind something like this with the potential to actually make a positive difference. And I have to wonder if any other countries have pulled off anything similar on such an impressive scale.

So, let’s get into the spirit of it and kick off some discussion - what are your thoughts, views, cheers, gripes or moans? What kind of impact has it had on those you’ve been speaking to? Let’s hear it!

I was really moved by the 2nd episode (which is the 1st one I’ve seen). God is stirring up our nation to do something huge, and it’s an exciting time for South Africa. We really need to endeavour to get as MANY people as possible watching this series. What about if we mail all our friends and encourage them to watch.

I was amazed that Garth (surname forgotten) presented the Heartlines initiative at the Internet Solutions Internetix yesterday. Firstly just that he got to present it was a miracle in itself, considering that it is an internet technology related event. The hall was silent as we watched the previews of the 8 shows and, in that brief time, I already experienced it challenging someone.

Last week, this person had been coerced into bribing a corrupt traffic cop. After watching just the previews, I sensed that this would not happen again.

    Go GOD!!!

    Finding Value in Values

Responsibility - After watching the episode on responsibility I can’t help but feel good about the series as a whole. The show is addressing pressing issues that our country needs to learn something about. Particularly in circumstances where “WE DEMAND” without realising that we have a responsibility to do our part too.

Each movie I have seen has opened my eyes to the reality that we sometimes take for granted that people share our values and understand what they mean.

I look forward to seeing the positive impact that this series has on our communities and country as a whole. God is moving in this place!
