We win!

Revelation 17:14

They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

My mom hates watching suspense movies , she just wants to know what’s gonna happen at the end. In the movie Alex and Emma, Emma always reads the ending to see if the book is worth reading.

Isn’t it good to know what happens at the end.

God’s lamb we slaughtered overcomes the devil at his second coming! Why? Simply and plainly because He is King! And what is even better is we get to be with him when it happens!

I read a bumper sticker once it said, “I know what happens at the end, We win!’

Do you live in the knowledge that in the end good WILL triumph over evil, it’s not just a fairytale!

King Jesus, as your called, chosen and faithful follower, Thank—you that I can live without fear of the end times!

The Jesus of Revelation

Revelation 1:5-7

Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
7Look, he is coming with the clouds,
and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him;
and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

You can once again see that the visions that John received clearly state Jesus is King, and ruler of all the kings of the earth.

Notice in vs. 5, ‘from him who is, who was, and is to come’. Jesus is King, was King before the earth came into being, was king on earth and will reign as King for eternity!

Maybe take some time to see in what areas Jesus was King in your past, where he is King now and where you would like him to become King in the future!

The Good Confession

1 Timothy 6:13-15

In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords

‘The Good Confession’ could he be referring to Jesus telling Pilate He is a King. To testify to the truth.

I believe that is what Paul is charging us to do, to testify to the Truth. Whatever the truth is in whatever situation. Be it that Jesus is the One and Only True King or something else.

If you believe the truth , that Jesus is King, make sure that you , your words and your actions testify to that truth!

Born to be a King

Jesus replies to Pilate ‘You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born’

Born to be a King

We get a glimpse of this with the Magi who visit  Jesus as a baby.

Do you remember the gifts they gave him

They were expensive gifts worthy of a king.

* Gold – gift for a King
* Incense – gift for deity
* Myrrh – a spice for a person who was going to die

Jesus was born to be King. Plain and simple. A Powerful yet humble King, who on this earth served people and loved them first.

Lord, what can we take from your life story, being born a King yet so humbly in a manager, living the servant life, riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. Thank-you for challenging our views of a King and giving us so much more.

Crucifying the King

Can you picture the face of Pilate as he says , ‘You are a king, then’.

Is he shocked, smiling, disappointed?

If we are to believe that Pilate believed that Jesus was telling the truth, why did he still hand him over to be crucified?

How do you react to a moment in your life, where Jesus reminds you again that He is a King?

Its easier to see Jesus as the shepherd , or laughing with his disciples or with some children sitting around his feet.

But we need to say to him You are a King, and live our days with him , with the reverence , respect , humility and awe that comes with walking with a King.

Lord Jesus , My King, I bow down to you and your reign over my life today.

Citizens of Heaven

Reading John again, something else you might notice is Jesus saying his Kingdom is from another place.

Philippians 3:20 says this:

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ Kingdom comes from heaven; it is in Heaven that he sits on his throne and rules at this moment. That is where he is King. We as his servants are part of his Kingdom, but that Kingdom is not the one ruling over the world as we know it, due to the Fall. The King can only reign where Kingdom is, our hearts. That is until the 2nd coming!

We are citizens of heaven , and so as his Kingdom from another place , so are we!

I heard someone say we should live with our feet firmly planted on the ground , but with our heads in the clouds (heaven).

As important as it is to focus on what our purpose is on this earth, we must not forget, we are not called to this place but to our Kings Kingdom in heaven. We are only passing through and developing our characters here.

Lord, help us today, to see eternity in the things we do.

My Kingdom is Not of this World

John 18:36-37

36Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

37″You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

This week we’ll be spending some time with these two verses, if you like , read the whole of chpt 18 to refresh your memory of the events that took place around this.

The first main point we notice Jesus make is that his kingdom is not of this world.

Ok, so where is it then? When is it?

The gospels are littered with Jesus teachings on the Kingdom of God, if you are completely in the dark it’s a good idea to start there.

God’s Kingdom is here on the earth is the hearts of his disciples.

It is also a place at the end of time that Jesus is preparing for us and will take us to after his 2nd coming.

The one that applies to us now, is bring the Kingdom of God to earth through our hearts to those around us.

How are you doing on that one?

Does Jesus dwell in his kingdom in your heart and reach out to the people around you?

Lord, you left us with such a huge challenge , to make our hearts a place where you can bring your kingdom, please send your Spirit to help us to do that today.

Jesus the King

Zechariah 6:12-13

Tell him this is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD. 13 It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’

This is the 2nd Old Testament verse to speak of Jesus as the Branch.

Think about that image what does it mean to you, what does it say about Jesus as a King?

This scripture brings a new dimension to Jesus the King, it says he will be a priest as well. A political leader and a priest?

How is your Picture of King Jesus coming on?

Jesus is worthy to take the throne as both King and Priest.

Lord, help me to let you take the throne over the kingly aspects of my life and the priestly aspects.

In the Hope of Eternity

Daniel 2:44

“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”

This was a prophesy of the Kingdom that will come. This Kingdom came with Jesus.

No matter what worldly king or ruler threatens our lives, we are secure in the fact that we belong to God’s Kingdom and that Kingdom will never be conquered, no matter how bad things look to us.

‘We live in the hope of eternity’, I know it’s a clichéd saying, but it fits.

Write down what scares you in this world, if its decisions leaders might make, terrorist bombings or war. Then read and reread this scripture, encourage your Spirit and others around you!
