For all youth groups and churches in and near Mondeor Johannesburg, there will be a Youth Day talent showcase entitled “Hopeful Destiny”. The show will be a fundraiser for a worship event co-ordinated by F.U.S.I.O.N, and tickets will be sold for R25 at the door (R20 pre-sale). Whatever your talent is, you can use it to bring glory to the God who created it!

The time for Paballo Ya Batho fundraiser Night of 1000 Drawings has rolled around again. Last year’s function was a roaring success and this time promises to be no different.

The entertainment bill at the Jo’burg exhibition includes live bands Fuzigish, Cassette and Desmond and the Tutus, as well as a number of top DJ’s to keep the vibe pumping until the early hours. Please come along and show your support by purchasing good, original artworks for a worthy cause!

Update: The second blanket distribution outreach trip is taking place this Thursday evening (14 June) starting at 6pm at Central Methodist Church in Jo’burg (corner of Pritchard & Smal streets). 1500 blankets have already been handed out - come along and help make an even bigger difference.

If you’re reading this blog post on a computer screen, there’s a good chance that you fall well within the 10% segment consisting of the wealthiest people on the planet. Here’s an opportunity to reach out and help someone sitting at the other end of the scale - someone who could use a little bit of extra warmth this winter.

“It is that time of year when we remember those who are less fortunate, sleeping outside in the cold. This time each year, Paballo collect blankets to distribute them to the homeless people in the inner city of Johannesburg.”

Paballo Ya Batho’s annual blanket distribution run in central Jo’burg is happening this Friday Thursday night, starting at 6pm. If you’d like to volunteer to be a part of the hand-out team, or if you have any old clothes or blankets to donate, please contact Ndai for details on 0829684543.

Remember the Night of 1000 Drawings? Well, whether you were there on the night or not, here’s some exciting news. The Legion graphic gurus have compiled all of the pro photography for the event - mailers, promos, Paballo outreach stuff, and (most importantly) a selection of the artworks - into a gorgeous 58-page coffee-table book.

It’s going for 100 bucks and of course the money raised goes directly to Paballo’s outreach initiative. To get your hands on a copy, contact David at 1000drawings@gmail.com or give him a ring on 082-600-0011.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, then you might not have heard about Paballo’s Night of 1000 Drawings. You can do your catching up here. The drawings are all in (yup, the target of a thousand has been reached) and everything’s set for this Thursday evening.

Bands bringin’ the unplugged vibes will be Harris Tweed and HEADspace. Supper will be provided in true Paballo style. In fact, the only critical thing left is for you to show up and buy some art. Mobile credit card facilities are kindly being sponsored by WAPPoint, so feel free to bring plastic money along as well as cash.

Just a heads up: the deadline for submitting your drawings for the Paballo fundraiser is the end of this month. Hope you’ve been doodling away, or for the artistically challenged among us, at least bugging encouraging your friends who aren’t! In fact, you don’t even need to be able to draw, ’cause even A5 photographs are allowed.

Paballo Ya Batho needs your help.

This organisation is doing incredible things. Operating out of Central Methodist Church in Johannesburg, the Paballo ministry team hit the city streets every Wednesday night with a mission to feed, clothe and provide health care for the homeless.

In order to raise funds for a new vehicle, they’re holding an art exhibition entitled “Night of 1000 Drawings” where donated artworks will be sold for R100 apiece. If you’re artistically inclined, please consider donating as many original pieces as you’re able. Drawings should be in A5 format, but the medium and subject matter are up to you.

The date for the exhibition hasn’t been set yet, but the drawings need to be in by the end of October. Please contact David on 082-600-0011 for more details, and keep watching this space.
